Tips for buying a Used Bed

If the cost of new tanning beds has been holding you back, either for commercial or home usage, a used tanning bed may be just the option you're looking for.

Used tanning beds, for all intensive purposes, function just as well as any new bed. There are a variety of reasons that individuals and businesses replace their existing inventory with new equipment, and when they do, an opportunity presents itself.

However, caution must be exercised, as used beds DO present their downsides.

Sometimes, tanning beds have been recalled, and a quick call to the manufacturer can confirm this. You also want to verify that a particular model is still being made. The obvious reason for this is to ensure that if your bed requires parts or bulbs, they will be available.

If you are looking at used beds, here is a helpful checklist:

-check for replacement parts with a local supplier.
-replace the bulbs immediately if the hour usage is unknown.
-check that the electrical cords are in good condition - if they have been replaced, ask why. This may be a sign of malfunction.
-check for exterior damage, scratches, and 'dings' - has the bed been abused? damaged in shipping?
-ask questions - is the seller the original owner? why is he/she selling?
-location - where is the bed located? Will shipping be included? How much will it cost?

Often times, buying a used bed online represents a substantial value over buying locally. If this is your goal, be extra careful. While buying used tanning beds online does represent a great value, it is almost impossible to determine possible problems that the unit may have.
